Terms of Service

That is another critical requirement for any web application, even one for personal use, especially if you ever intend to deploy it for others or just want to comply with best practices.

Since your app is a private, personal productivity tool built on Google's infrastructure, the Terms of Service (ToS) should focus on defining the scope of the app and explicitly stating its non-commercial, "AS IS" nature.

Here is a template for your Terms of Service:

Terms of Service for Your AI Productivity Assistant

(Effective Date: October 23, 2025)

Welcome to the [Your App Name, e.g., 'Gemini Executive Assistant'] (the "Application" or "App"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Application, which is designed as an automated personal productivity agent.

By using the Application, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service

The Application is a non-commercial, personal-use tool built using Google Apps Script and the Gemini API. Its sole purpose is to automate personal productivity tasks within your own Google ecosystem, including:

  • Analyzing communication content (Gmail, Google Voice texts/voicemails).

  • Extracting scheduling requests.

  • Creating tentative calendar events.

  • Drafting email responses.

2. User Responsibilities

A. Non-Commercial Use

The Application is licensed to you solely for your personal and non-commercial productivity purposes. You agree not to distribute, sell, or modify the Application for third-party use without explicit consent.

B. Final Review and Responsibility

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • The Application uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and may generate errors, incorrect dates, incorrect information, or inappropriate language.

  • You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all draft emails, calendar entries, and suggested actions before they are finalized.

  • The Application is not a substitute for human review or judgment.

C. Permissions

You are responsible for ensuring the Application has the necessary and up-to-date permissions (OAuth scopes) to access your Gmail and Google Calendar data. If permissions are revoked, the Application will cease to function.

3. Data and Privacy

The Application's data handling is governed by its Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have read and agreed to the Privacy Policy, which details the use of your sensitive communication data and adherence to the Google API Services User Data Policy.

4. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your access to the Application at any time, with or without cause, which may result in the deletion of the associated Google Apps Script project.

5. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS," WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER.

The developer disclaims all express or implied warranties, including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The developer makes no warranty that the Application will be error-free or that it will operate without interruption.

6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses resulting from the use or inability to use the Application. This includes any errors, omissions, or actions resulting from the AI's processing of your communication data.

7. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your State/Country, e.g., The State of Georgia, USA], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Action:

  1. Copy the text above and fill in the bracketed information (e.g., your app name, your state).

  2. Create a new page on your website named Terms of Service or Terms and Conditions.

  3. Host the final document at a live, public URL (e.g., https://yourdomain.com/terms-of-service.html).

  4. Paste that final URL into the OAuth Consent Screen in your Google Cloud Project.
